My collection of Covers and Cancels:

This section of my website houses my collection of Third Reich and Occupation covers and fancy cancels. Due to the quantity I am likely to accumulate I won't be providing in depth descriptions for the majority of entries. Perhaps just the date of cancellation, the topic of the cancel if it's pictorial and the location that the item was sent from or postmarked.

Generalgouvernement Red Cross Buildings (17th August 1940):

redcrossbuildingoverprints

Here I have a set of four semi-postal stamps still affixed to seperate pieces of cardstock; they are adjoined in the scan only. These stamps are 'grey scale' reissues of prior Generalgouvernement stamps with a carmine Red Cross overprint and additional charity value. All four stamps depict historic buildings and were designed by Erwin Puchinger. They are all a blackish olive brown colour with a bright red overprint.

These four were all cancelled with a special commemorative cancel for the German Red Cross on the 17th-18th of August 1940. With the 17th being the date the four stamps were issued. The cancel is from Krakau, a Polish city, and all have written in German the following: 'Kriegshilfswerk fur das deutsche rote kreuz'. This expectedly translates in English to 'War Relief Organization for the German Red Cross'. The stamps themselves are in perfect condition however the cancel on the 50 + 50 Pfennig example was rendered incomplete by whoever seperated it from it's original cover. The stamps are Michel catalog code DE-GO 52-55.
